a spouse obtaining british citizenship does not depend on the citizenship of the ancestors but on how long they live here .. i think its after 3 years living here and being married to a british citizen that they can apply for a british pport at least it was in the days when my husband did it (1980s) if a british citizen is married to a foreigner and they live abroad he/she would not be entitled to a british pport.
