I just had to lie to get out of something? was this believable?

a friend texted me early this morning to go to the movies, but i didnt get it until a fe minutes ago. we have a snow day today, so i was planning on doing a bit of homework in advance, studying, and then going out to dinner with my parents. I just finished up with midterms and just wanted some down time. I told my friend I was practicing interview questions (which i sort of am) and that my moms not letting me go to the movies. I also said I had to go out with my parents for dinner after, just in case she saw us or something...believable?
